Worms Backfischfest 31 Aug 2008

75 Jahre Wormser Backfischfest 2008!
Went to the backfischfestumzug (tot that it starts at 10am, but went there and realized that it will start only at 2pm (schieße lor). We went for backfisch lunch at the Fisheweide & visited the Dom. We waited for the zugs to arrive, since we waited at somewhere near the end of the road, we only saw the 1st zug like 3++pm, but once the first one came, we were all very excited & went screaming Ahoi to every zug that passed us & they threw us candy, popcorn & serve us wine & beer... (there are 133 in total, but we only saw the first 70 coz we wanted to go to the carnival). I collected 11 candy, 1 matchbox, 1 lanyard, 2 popcorns, 1 mashmallow, 1 ice cream cone(yeah, without the eis!), 1 beer & 1 wein.
Then, we went to the carnival & I sat on this 360 degrees air-swing thingy that made me scream throughout the whole time (it felt very long) & I got off my seat with wobbly legs!

Frankfurt am Main 30 Aug 2008

Went to Frankfurt for the Museumsuferfest 2008, & this is the last Summer event in Frankfurt. It was indeed a crowded shopping district & maybe I have not seen so many shoppers since I came to Ludwigshafen, so it was kinda wierd, haha. The weather was terribly hot.
Brought them to the Maggie shop (still remember it, Serina?) & we went to the Birkin's shop to erm, look at the latest design of the Birkin sandals & I saw a pretty lilac one. But I am no fan of German's Scholl sandals... so it was just window shopping.

We had dinner in a thai restaurant, but I think the Suppan places in Mannheim & Heidelberg sell tastier curries...yum yum ;)

Karaoke Nite Ludwigshafen 29 Aug 2008

Who would have thought Ludwigshafen actually has a ktv that has english & chinese songs?? Haha, although the song selection is rather limited, the lounge was still good enough for us to sing our hearts out on our favorite songs.

Mosbach FliegerFest 24 Aug 2008

Went for an airshow in am Hamberg today. The place was filled with flying enthusiasts & model planes collectors. My first time having old aircrafts & heilcopters taking off & landing just inches away from me.... Had a nice bier & german lunch there while watching the air stunts (with old people) Ha Ha...
Since the air show was at the top of the hill, the sky looks extremely blue & beautiful(reminds me of my desktop wallpaper, omo....)
Pics aren't good since I took them with my camera coz I forgot to put my SD card into my camera...all I could say was S***.

Speyer Jazz Fest 23 Aug 2008

Speyer' Oldtime Jazz Festival was filled with Musik & Wein & Wurst. We saw performance by the Lamarotte Jazzband & the New Orleans Society Stuggart.

In the afternoon, it was our weekly dosage of shopping at Heidelberg.

Bought a pair of shoes on Friday at €39,95 (shoes are damm expensive here). My early Bday present....I am still planning what to do on my birthday, maybe go to Haßloch Holiday Park if the weather is good. I shall take leave on that day(how can? Make birthday girl work?? no way!!!)

Bad Wimpfen 17 Aug 2008

Went to Bad Wimpfen, a pretty small town beside the Neckar & climbed up the famous Blauer Turm (32 m), and the whole tower is 58,75m tall.
There is a restaurant at the top floor, but gosh, don't they love to torture people, making us climb up just for coffee & cakes. There is also a Rot Turm, but since I need to pay to go into these towers, I gave it a miss.
The Schloss is also converted into a restaurant. Many restaurants and hotels dot the whole town.
I couldn't find the Glücksschweinmuseum(Good Luck Pig Museum), the map is rather uninformative, next time, I will bring my own map and find this place.

Heard that this place has an attractive Christmas Market, now I know where to go for my weekends in Winter...

Mannheim & Frankenthal 16 Aug 2008

It was a foggy day and it was only 13Degrees in the morning.
Visited the Mannheim Market and found gigantic green grapes(I suppose 'my' grapes in the villages in Neustadt shall be ripe soon, gee...)
In the afternoon, went to a nearby town Frankenthal, it has 2 Tors, die Speyer Tor und die Wormser Tor, because it is sandwiched between these two other Larger towns.
Looking forward to visiting Worms for the Backfisch Festival on 31Aug-7Sept.

Mannheim 10 Aug 2008

Sonntags in Germany are relatively boring. In addition, bad weather brings more tears.
Today, I went to the Rhein for some fresh air & wandered around the empty shopping streets of Mannheim again since rain was expected in the afternoon.

Visited the Wasserturm again, this time, I spent like 30 min sitting at the bench enjoying the beautiful water fountain that shoots up water jets in many patterns. It felt wonderful relaxing by the fountain in the morning.

Had a super big lunch at Burger King (tried out the Triple Whopper Set Meal), gosh! It was really a meaty meal. I realized in Germany, they have Upsize for many food, Burgers, Fries, Drinks, & even King Size Cornetto Ice-cream-I have no guts to try that yet ;)

Bought noodles home for dinner from the chinese restaurant at Berlina Platz since the Thai Curry Shop in Mannheim is geschlössen today.

Was at home since 2pm. Gosh, wat a simple and quiet Sonntag.
