Mannheim 10 Aug 2008

Sonntags in Germany are relatively boring. In addition, bad weather brings more tears.

Today, I went to the Rhein for some fresh air & wandered around the empty shopping streets of Mannheim again since rain was expected in the afternoon.

Visited the Wasserturm again, this time, I spent like 30 min sitting at the bench enjoying the beautiful water fountain that shoots up water jets in many patterns. It felt wonderful relaxing by the fountain in the morning.

Had a super big lunch at Burger King (tried out the Triple Whopper Set Meal), gosh! It was really a meaty meal. I realized in Germany, they have Upsize for many food, Burgers, Fries, Drinks, & even King Size Cornetto Ice-cream-I have no guts to try that yet ;)

Bought noodles home for dinner from the chinese restaurant at Berlina Platz since the Thai Curry Shop in Mannheim is geschlössen today.

Was at home since 2pm. Gosh, wat a simple and quiet Sonntag.

Lorsch 9 Aug 2008

Visited the Lorscher Klosternacht (UNESCO 1991). It is a small town, padded with archaeological artifacts. The Lorsch is like a state house, because it is a place where towns and villages get their names registered.

Learnt more about the Nibelungens' Road & Siefried Road and the Myth: the Nibelungenlied.

Shall I go treasure hunting and explore the whole road? It is very long ya...and I think the 2 gals will skin me lor ;)

Gundelsheim 8 Aug 2008

Took a train ride to Gundelsheim. A quiet little town. Did not climb up to the Schloß because the road seemed deserted & the winding steps to the other Schloß seemed untouchable. Wanted to go Heidelberg for lunch, but when I reached there, it was raining heavily so I took the train home to Ludwigshafen & had lunch in the Lu-Mitte & went to the Rathaus to stock up my chocolate supply.

Luisenpark Grill Nite 7 Aug 2008

Went bbq at Luisenpark, Mannheim with my GKT/W Group.

It was a night filled with Meat, Potatoes, & Bread, not forgetting the free flow of drinks. Plus got Strawberrry & Schocolade Pies dessert too!!! Fantastic Dinner. Gosh, we even have a hired chef to cook everything :)

Wertheim 3 Aug 2008

Took a 3 hr train ride to Wertheim, a small village in Baden-Württemburg. The river Tauber connects to the River Main. Burg Wertheim stands above the Town Center. Colorful timbered roofs Houses lines the streets. The Gothic style Stifkirch has 2 clocks (one clock has only the Hour hand. Also, there is the Engelsbrunnen (Angels' Well).

Spent an enjoyable afternoon eating a table full of cakes and pastries at the Bistro in Wertheim Town.

Speyer & Heidelberg Einkaufen 2 Aug 08

Wanted to go to the Saturday Market in Speyer, but forgot that the Markt is in Neustadt & not in Speyer. But anyway, it was nice going to Speyer again, since the town center is so pretty.

After Mitessen, we went to Heidelberg Bismarckplatz for shopping. Got a purple bag(this year Fall/Winter Collection's Main Color is Purple) since I was sick of carrying the same sling bag on every outing. Oh..also bought a colorful nice cap, to fight against the strong UV radiation (today, it was at an unhealthy level of 6, based on a scale of 1 to 11+)
